Perry's Fed Bashing Texas Jujitsu

Well, I was one of the first to say that Rick Perry was dead on right with his criticism of the Fed. Most seem to be agreeing with me, i.e the WSJ and Sir Lawrence and others. Others opted to criticized Perry's words and tone more than I did. First, I have a hard time with lectures on tone from the MSM and the left. Second, I think this is Perry's genuine tone, and I think that genuineness is OK, even preferable, and likely to be a campaign asset when juxtaposed against President Teleprompter. Third, I sensed that Perry was more calculating than off-the-cuff, and the Good Prof seems to agree with me - the MSM seems to have taken the bait, and Perry's savvy focus on monetary policy, a big issue, is now the backdrop to the media's Miss Manners squeamishness. Will America side with the media over small ball or Perry on the meat and potatoes? To ask it is to answer it.

Methinks Perry knows jujitsu.

Another Self-Inflicted Wound for the Elitist Media

As the fevered reaction of the left to the Tucson shootings emerged not moments after the news hit the wires, I suspected that the left would, overreach is not the word, repulse the American public at large. They have certainly done that but they have compounded the mistake by strengthening their most hated rival, Sarah Palin. Clearly the left knows nothing of war-gaming, Sun Tzu not being high on their reading lists. When dealing with an opponent who you believe is weak strategically, you allow that opponent to make mistakes, confirming your view and strengthening your position. Clearly the wrong thing to do is to give your opponent easy opportunities to appear strong, contravening your view thereby strengthening them and weakening you. The MSM, or EJM as I like to call them, has done just that. They've given Palin an easy opening to look strong - calm, mature, measured and reasonable - when they needn't have done so, and they degraded their strategic stance, that Palin is hopelessly weak - inflammatory, immature, unpredictable, and irrational. Classic blunder. With each passing day, the MSM/EJM lets its power and influence in society slip away with these childish blunders.

UPDATE: Towering intellectual, Jim Clyburn, hasn't read his Sun Tzu either. (BTW, where are the feminists given Clyburn's chauvanistic "there, there, pretty little lady" routine? Oh, I forgot, stupid question.) Meanwhile, trained psychologist Charles Krauthammer posits a levelheaded analysis.

UPPDATE: Now it's clear to me that we have another Roveian plot of political jujitsu on our hands...the putatively respectable pages of the WaPo host a lecture on civil discourse by ... wait for it ... Al Sharpton. I'm telling you, the left needs to get itself exactly what it thinks Rove is/was, a sort of all-powerful, Grand Wizard of strategy and plots. That way they could rein in these awful mismatches of execrable characters weighing in on pressing topics.

UPPPDATE: Wow, the MSM/EJM keeps tripping over giant cinderblocks of stupidity that they have carefully laid down in their own path...in what has to be the silliest analysis of this whole sordid affair, Amy Walter and Michael Falcone claim that Sarah Palin has managed to make this story about her. Defending yourself when people who hate you deep in their soul attack you with a vicious, scurrilous accusation built on nothing...that's making it about you? Leaking credibility...drip...drip...drip...

UPPPPDATE: The good professor has some thoughts on the Palin issue here. Slipped right by me that Palin is generating substantial earnings for herself for essentially draining the MSM/EJM of its small reservoirs of remaining credibility: they come at her, she lands a cut increasing the bleeding (i.e. by traffic-copping Obama's bus right over Krugman's pavement splayed body), and she likely sells more books or TV ads. That's pretty much a dream job, wouldn't you say? For me that's somewhere between professional beer taster and quarterback for the New York Giants.

In this editorial, the WSJ editors seem unable to detect any rational strategy in the Republicans' negotiations over the funding of the government. No? It appears plain as day to me - drag it out so that you can elicit nuggets of total idiocy from the usual quarters on the left. Sure enough, this mornign Drudge is littered with the cheap inanities that usually emanate from the usual suspects - Pelosi calls it a "war on women," Jesse Jackson says it's like the Civil War (really? over 600,000 people will die unnecessary and mostly quite horrible deaths...??), Eleanor Holmes Norton says it's like dropping actual munitions, which kill and maim, on people. And, of course, Dingy Harry has sussed out the real reason behind all the tumult - it's all a sinister plot to keep women from getting cancer screenings. These people are stupid and ridiculous, and any opportunity to get them to display these qualities for public consumption is welcome. The Democrats' strategy is to depict the Republicans as heartless, soulless fanatics, and the best way for Republicans to counter this strategy is to simply let those making such accusations reveal themselves as moronic laughingstocks. And so it goes. The best argument against the charge is the people making it. In such serious times as we are in now, this sort of typical, cheap hyperbolizing turns Americans off and let's us sort out the serious from the supersilious. (Seriously, do people do anything other than spit out their drinks and laugh when they hear this stuff?) All the better. I say drag it out for a tad longer, just long enough to get a few Holocaust, slavery, or ethnic cleansing comparisons from the nutters out into the public discourse.

Warren vs. Sessions Is Another Oblique Anti-Southern Unforced Error

Here is the jujitsu strategery behind the Rule 19 rebuke of Elizabeth "Sitting Bullshit" Warren.

That is true, but there is more.  Over the last, oh say, 20 years, the Democrats have abandoned (abandoned in the sense of kick, punch, hog-tie, spit on and then walk away from) certain very large electoral swaths...men, the South, and married women.  Even regular Democrats, to say nothing of "liberal Democrats," have been all but swept from the South.

Republicans relish this, it's a huge pickup for them, and it could last a generation or longer if all goes well.  So anytime the Dems want to shit on the South, Republicans are gonna let 'em, and this example is the triple bacon cheeseburger of political red meat - shrill, socialist harridan of Massachusetts raging against calm, collected, grey-haired man with a heavy Alabama twang.

This about making Warren the voice of the Dems AND about shoring up what is now a Republican fortress in the American South.
