After getting fleeced by leftist banana republics like, say, Argentina, Spanish energy giant Repsol would now like to invest their money in stable, boring North America.

Spanish oil major Repsol SA REP.MC -0.76%is shopping for a North American oil company as it seeks to increase its investments in politically stable countries and the U.S. energy boom, according to people familiar with the talks.
