A Sign of Things to Come?

Is this a sign of which way the wind is blowing?  I suspect this is not about Googles' "image" so much as making bets on who might be in power a few years down the road.  The finance industry, and business in general, backed candidate Barack Obama, not because he was any great shakes but because that's the way they saw the wind blowing in 2008 and they wanted to befriend emerging power.  (A terrible mistake as we now know.)
