We Have Confirmation

It was Krugman last week to declare a recession.

Now it is Stephen Roach (I thought he was optimistic cause the IMF was on the job...?) predicting gloom.

This is a confirmation of the Krugman Buy Signal. Buy Stocks.

how good are these contrarian signals? What's the long term track record?

You can get a glimpse of Roach's track record via Karlgaard's piece. He is perpetually bearish and has been throughout the 2003-2005 period where stocks had a nice run. He turned optimistic, due to laughable reasons as I pointed out, this spring to see the markets go nowhere. I don't know his detailed view as of now, but the FT article would be consonant with his longstanding pessimism. Krugman has been a notoriously bad forecaster.
