Blinder Dons the Blinders
The WSJ reports on a prominent economist who says he supports free trade when, the article makes clear, he in fact does not. Alan Blinder seems to think that Paduchans have a special right to work and avoid poverty that Peruvians do not.

I assume that econ professors such as Blinder, Gomory, Rodrik, and Summers have above average intelligence. If so, then how could these people be so wrong with regard to basic economics, the field of their supposed expertise? Is my assumption wrong, or are they blind by their arrogance, or both?
