There Are Those Fat Poor People Again
I love Instapundit's take on this story..."from the 'headlines that wouldn't make sense fifty years ago' department". But I think this dances around the cold hard reality...
Bottom line...in the US, our poor people are fat, and they probably watch too much TV too. Like I said, we don't really have poverty in the US. If the only the rest of the world had such problems, where they're poor were too fat and watched too much TV.

any prediction for 2007?
TS-
I'm not good at predictions, but I will say this, I was optimistic going into 200 because so many people were pessimistic. Right now there are far fewer pessimistic people so I am completely on the fence. That said, without sounding partisan (because I am not loyal to a party, I am loyal to capitalism), I am afraid of what the new Congressional majority will try to pull off - they are a devoutly anti-capitalistic bunch. If I see stiff resistance to their agenda and the prospects of gridlock I will be bullish, if they meet with success on blocking free trade deals, raising taxes and expanding regulations I will turn bearish quickly.
Cheers and Happy New Year to You and Yours!
2006, sorry
